How long does an Automower® battery last?
Batteries in a Husqvarna Automower® are one of two types – Li-ion (Lithium batteries) or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hybrid batteries). In most robotic mowers from 2013 the batteries are Li-ion batteries. Generally, Li-ion batteries last longer if properly maintained. In our experience with batteries, the original Automower® Li-ion battery lasts for five to six seasons. A NiMH battery usually lasts for four to five seasons.

Operating time comes into play
Another decisive factor is how active the robotic lawnmower is and how much it mows. You measure operating time in hours and from our experience with batteries, the batteries have a good capacity for up to 3,500 hours.
After 3,500 hours, the battery can still function but with a markedly shorter mowing time. This can cause problems - such as the robotic lawnmower doesn't have enough battery capacity to get back home after mowing. The battery might go flat before the robotic lawnmower finds its way home so it gets stuck on the lawn with an empty battery.

Maintaining the Automower® battery
General tips for maintainging the Husqvarna Automower® battery:
- Avoid the battery going flat. Make sure the battery always has power
- Store the robotic lawnmower at temperatures no lower than 5 ℃ and no lower than 20 ℃
- Charge the battery two to three times during the winter months
- Avoid leaving the robotic lawnmower constantly charging
