Can the boundary wire or guide wire be extended?
It is easy to lengthen or shorten the boundary or guide wire and this may need to be done if you have redesigned your garden.

For example, if you want to extend the cutting area, you should first determine two points where to splice the boundary wire. Start by cutting the boundary wire where the extended area will begin, splicing the end you have cut off with the end of the wire you are using to extend the area. Once you have laid the cable for the extended area, splice the other end to your existing loop.

In the illustration below we give an example of what this could look like. In this example, a flower bed that was placed at the bottom of the lawn has now been removed, thus extending the area to be mowed by the robot. The blue loop shows the extended cable and the red crosses are the points where the existing cable is cut and the new cable is spliced on.

We recommend splicing the extension with one (or more) splice plugs designed specifically for robotic lawnmowers. This will ensure that you have a moisture-proof joint that will last for many years. The joint from 3M is filled with a grease that keeps out soil moisture.
The splice connector is easily used by inserting the two ends to be spliced together and then tightening the connector with tongue and groove or slip-joint pliers, so that the metal pins connect the two cables.

Shorten the boundary wire
If you want to shorten your boundary wire, you do this using the same principles as above, but instead you reduce the total area.
